Jehovah-Nissi

Jehovah-Nissi, "The Lord Is My Banner" is one of my favorite names of God.

According to the Bible, Moses named an altar "Jehovah-Nissi" after the Israelite's battle victory over the Amalekites at Rephidim . Here is a link to the article for more details about the battle: https://www.biblestudytools.com/bible-study/topical-studies/jehovah-nissi-the-lord-is-my-banner.html .

God was their 'general' and since Israel followed God through the battle, God allowed them to win the battle. Even as inexperienced and ill-equipped as the Israelites were, their faith in God was their greatest resource as God rewarded their faith by giving them the victory.

Jehovah-Nissi is a name of remembrance. As the article on www.biblestudytools.com states, " The LORD is my banner and we are the LORD’s. It was a declaration not just of who God is and what He has done, but of who we were as His people." For us today, it's still a reminder that the Lord will provide and give us the victory if our faith is in Him. Never forget who you belong to and the power that God has and the power he provides us through the Holy Spirit.

This Name of God comes more to mind due to the recent gun right issues arising not only in my own state but nationwide. Never fear, even if we have a lack of weapons, if our faith remains strong in the Lord, the victory is ours because of Jehovah-Nissi! This applies to wars, life challenges and spiritual battles.
