God Knows My Name

Today's blog I'm using an excerpt and Bible verse from one of my morning devotionals. When someone knows your name, don’t you feel loved? God knows every person in this whole world. Imagine hearing him call your name and feel the joy that comes over you! God, help me to listen for your voice. To know when you seek me out and to respond with love. I am yours, and you are mine. Amen. —Twila Bennett But now, this is what the LORD says—he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: Do not fear for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. —ISAIAH 43:1 (NIV) Now, stop reading for a minute and meditate on what this means. Not only does God know your name, He has a special name picked out just for you. When we get to heaven He will call us by this perfect and wonderful name. We will recognize His voice and this name when we hear it. How cool is this? God loves us and knows each of us intimately that He has created a name just for us. As the song videos below say, "I'm famous in my Father's eyes". I personally believe this new name is only for those that have a personal relationship with Jesus as those without a relationship, unfortunately will not be spending eternity with Jesus in heaven and therefore will never know their name from God. To clarify, I believe God has a perfect name for everyone but because some refuse to accept Jesus as their personal savior, they will not and cannot recognize or hear God's voice. Therefore, the lost will not ever hear or know their special name from God. I believe this because of John 10:27-28 "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand". We will not know for sure if everyone will hear this name, or if only the saints will until we face God. If I'm wrong in my belief, and the unsaved will hear their name, I think it will be devastating if He calls someone by their unique God given name, and then He states 'depart from me, I never knew you'. That brings tears to my eyes just thinking about how sad it will be for those individuals.

While writing this blog and contemplating just what this means, I now long to hear my name from God as how sweet and wonderful this will be. Just the fact that He's taken time to name us individually. This shows how precious we are to him. Below is a link to one of my favorite songs about God knowing 'my' name. I'm providing two links because one of the links contains several testimonies which I pray will help those come to know Christ that may not know Him today.

Lyrics:

Spent today in a conversation

In the mirror face to face with

Somebody less than perfect

I wouldn't choose me first if

I was looking for a champion

In fact I'd understand if

You picked everyone before me

But that's just not my story

True to who You are

You saw my heart

And made

Something out of nothing

I don't need my name in lights

I'm famous in my Father's eyes

Make no mistake

He knows my name

I'm not living for applause

I'm already so adored

It's all His stage

He knows my name oh, oh,

He knows my name oh, oh

I'm not meant to just stay quiet

I'm meant to be a lion

I'll roar beyond a song

With every moment that I've got

True to who You are

You saw my heart

And made

Something out of nothing

I don't need my name in lights

I'm famous in my Father's eyes

Make no mistake

He knows my name

I'm not living for applause

I'm already so adored

It's all His stage

He knows my name oh, oh,

He knows my name oh, oh

He calls me chosen, free forgiven, wanted, child of the King

His forever, held in treasure

I am loved

I don't need my name in lights

I'm famous in my Father's eyes

I don't need my name in lights

I'm famous in my Father's eyes

Make no mistake

He knows my name

I'm not living for applause

I'm already so adored

It's all His stage

He knows my name

He knows my name oh, oh

He knows my name
