Jesus' Special One

I'm home alone on a Sunday afternoon, searching out new releases to listen to and get inspiration for this blog. I came across several songs by Steffany Gretzinger, but the one I'm using for this blog is entitled 'Christ the Lord Is With Me'. I can tell this is going to be a song I listen to often. I'm reflecting on my relationship with Christ and I'm often taken back to when I was just a child around 10 in my room alone, reaching out to Christ to save me. I'm once again remembering this time. I wanted to be near Him and feel His touch so I stretched my hand towards heaven asking Him to take my hand. I believe I fell asleep sometime after that as I awoke with my arm outstretched to the right of me. I don't recall feeling God's touch physically but I have no doubt that was the day the Holy Spirit entered my heart. It seems since that day I have always found comfort in the songs that talk about holding Jesus' hand. I even had a dream as child that I still remember where He did take my hand and walked with me. Rescuing me from those trying to harm me. Reminiscing, I can recall Him being with me all the way through my life and now that I'm over 50, I have lived and experienced enough to know, He has always been with me. He will always be with me. I do have chronic depression and this afternoon the depression is wanting to take a hold and paralyze me from my normal day to day activities. I can feel Him urging me to stand strong and attempt writing this even though I'm having one of those times where thinking, reading and typing are difficult. His presence is with me now strong and loving. I do so enjoy these times. He's showing me images in my mind that are coming too fast for me to write down. He's assuring me that I am not wrong in knowing, I am special to Him. I have been special since I was born. This may sound conceited to some but the truth is, we are all special to Him. He created each one of us to have special place with Him in heaven. I'm just finally accepting what He has been telling me for years. My confidence is found in Christ and Christ alone. He makes me strong even when I'm weak. This afternoon is an example of how He's using His love and power to give me words to share with you. No one has ever cared for me like Jesus and I know through the years, He's been the one holding my hand and leading me even through the dark, difficult times. Even when I wasn't committed to Him and straying, He was there. The Holy Spirit in me, suppressed by me would not be completely silent. There was a silent urge or desire for me to return to Him even when I was trying to ignore Him. I'm ashamed I've had times like that and am thankful, grateful He never left me and lovingly brought me back to Him. The point of this blog today, is to ask you to take time to reflect on your first love of Jesus. Let His love fill you and His presence. Ask Him to rekindle that first love if you are having a hard time letting yourself love Him again. If you have a relationship with Him, He never leaves you. He is always there and always will be. Never forget that He loves you even when or if you can't love Him back. He will wait for you to return to Him and He will shower you with a love you've never experienced before. He so longs to have a loving relationship with all of us. You are His special one! I hope this song blesses you and allows you to experience Christ today in a more deeper intimate way.

Lyrics:

Christ The Lord Is with Me

(Steffany Gretzinger)

I have never walked alone

You were with me through it all

Broken hearts and broken bones

You have always held me close

There's no place that I could go

Heaven's high or hell below

I have lived enough to know

Anywhere with you is home

Hallelujah Christ the Lord is with me

Hallelujah Christ the Lord is with me

Hallelujah Christ the Lord is with me

Now I live with confidence

That nothing in the universe

Could ever separate me from

Jesus everlasting love

There's no height and there's no depth

True in life and true in death

You keep your covenant

Great will be your faithfulness

Hallelujah Christ the Lord is with me

Hallelujah Christ the Lord is with me

Hallelujah Christ the Lord is with me

Christ the Lord is with me

Christ the Lord is with me

Hallelujah Christ the Lord is with me

Hallelujah Christ the Lord is with me

Hallelujah Christ the Lord is with me

Hallelujah Christ the Lord is with us

Hallelujah Christ the Lord is with us

Hallelujah Christ the Lord is with us
