If I should say, “My foot has slipped,”Your lovingkindness, O Lord, will hold me up.When my anxious thoughts multiply within me,Your consolations delight my soul. (Psalm 94:18-19)
Notice Psalm 94:18 states 'my foot has slipped'. I'm sure many of us as Christians have had this happened. We are all on fire for God by living for Him, serving Him and sharing his gift of salvation. Then the enemy lays a trap for us and we slip. Some of us may even fall, but God's word promises that God will hold us up. Even if we fall, he will catch us and lift us back up.
People may not forget but God does. People may not forgive but God does. Each day is a new beginning with God and as long as we continually seek Him, He is faithful to be there for us. He will forgive us and always love us. As, John 10:28 states, "And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand".
Always remember as His child, there is nothing you can do that will stop God from loving you and nothing you can do to end your eternal life. God promises us this. We should still strive to live holy and be holy but when we fail, God's love will lift us up and allow us to be successful to bring glory to Him and His Kingdom.
The hymn, A Higher Ground, comes to mind as I end this devotional blog. I'll share the lyrics and link to the video in case this encourages you more to let God lift you up to 'higher ground'.
I’m pressing on the upward way New heights I’m gaining every day Still praying as I’m onward bound Lord, plant my feet on higher ground Lord, lift me up and let me stand By faith, on Heaven’s tableland A higher plane than I have found Lord, plant my feet on higher ground My heart has no desire to stay Where doubts arise and fears dismay Though some may dwell where those abound My prayer, my aim, is higher ground Lord, lift me up and let me stand By faith, on Heaven’s tableland A higher plane than I have found Lord, plant my feet on higher ground I want to live above the world Though Satan’s darts at me are hurled For faith has caught the joyful sound The song of saints on higher ground Lord, lift me up and let me stand By faith, on Heaven’s tableland A higher plane than I have found Lord, plant my feet on higher ground I want to scale the utmost height And catch a gleam of glory bright But still I’ll pray, 'till heaven I’ve found Lord, plant my feet on higher ground
