The word abide is resonating through me today so I decided to research this word some more as far as the Biblical meaning. What is the Biblical definition of the word abide?
to remain stable or fixed in a state of love
to continue in a place
to conform to abide by the rules
to accept without objection
I found an article that explains what it means to abide in Christ. If you can find the time you may want to read John 15 along with this article. This is the parable of the vine that Jesus told his disciples to prepare them for His death. This article explains the meaning of the parable. Being that this is Easter weekend, it's a good reminder for us as well.
I also want to share an app that is a good Christian meditation app called Abide. This can be downloaded for the Android or Apple devices. https://abide.co/. They also have a YouTube channel which can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UClSf95kSFthb2NNHle4a7fw.
I want to encourage my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ to find time this weekend to abide in Christ through Christian meditation, prayer and/or Bible study. What a wonderful time to spend with Christ during the remembrance of His death and resurrection. Especially since many of us will not be able to get out to spend with our friends and family. I know Christ cherishes the times when we spend time with Him and Him alone. As we learn to abide in Christ, we will develop a more meaningful and intimate relationship with Jesus.
The first step in abiding in Christ is having a relationship with Him. If you do not know Christ as your personal savior, please take this first step today so you too can enjoy the benefits of abiding in Christ. Here is a link to explain what you need to do to have a relationship with Jesus Christ: https://www.christianfaithplace.com/romans-8-road-to-salvation
Below is a song by Audrey Assad entitled 'Abide with Me" which I hope touches your heart and soul for Christ.
Lyrics to Abide with Me by Audrey Assad
Abide with me; fast falls the eventide;
The darkness deepens; Lord, with me abide;
When other helpers fail and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, oh, abide with me.
Swift to its close ebbs out life's little day;
Earth's joys grow dim, its glories pass away;
Change and decay in all around I see—
O Thou who changest not, abide with me.
I need Thy presence every passing hour;
What but Thy grace can foil the tempter's pow'r?
Who, like Thyself, my guide and stay can be?
Through cloud and sunshine, Lord, abide with me.
I fear no foe, with Thee at hand to bless;
Ills have no weight, and tears no bitterness;
Where is death's sting? Where, grave, thy victory?
I triumph still, if Thou abide with me.
Hold Thou Thy cross before my closing eyes;
Shine through the gloom and point me to the skies;
Heav'n's morning breaks, and earth's vain shadows flee;
In life, in death, O Lord, abide with me.
